Golf Courses on the Isle of Arran

There’s something very special about playing golf on Arran

We have 7 courses all very different not only in terrain and landscape but also in the number of holes- 18, 9 or even 12- take your pick! All will give you a warm welcome, and remind you of the time when golf was fun.

The Brodick course is just a few minutes walk away from the Glenartney Enjoy the mountain and sea views under the watchful eye of Brodick Castle. It’s 18 holes are a mixture of parkland and coastal, providing a stern test for the mid-handicap golfer as well as a refreshing challenge for beginners or single-figure players alike. With a Par of 61, Brodick plays to 4,332 yards it can be a tougher test than it’s figures might suggest.

Lamlash course is just a few miles away - the view of the Holy Isle from the 1st green is incredible. Lamlash Golf Course is a delightful Par 64 - 18 hole, golf course. Although quite short in distance, measuring at some 4,640 yds, it offers a serious challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Whiting Bay is at the south end of the island and is an 18 hole par 63 playing 4063 yards.  The course is set high on the south east coast of Arran with spectacular panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde to the Ayrshire coast and Holy Isle.

From Brodick it’s a 25 minute drive to Blackwaterfoot and the unspoiled 12 hole Shiskine links course confusingly named after the neighbouring village. Situated in magnificent scenery overlooking the Kilbrannan sound with splendid views to the Mull of Kintyre. Nestling below Drumadoon Cliffs at Blackwaterfoot, Shiskine is been ranked as one of the top 100 courses in Britain.

Just up the west coast from the Shiskine course is “Royal” Machrie, a lovely gentle 9 holes, looking across to Kintyre. The whole family will love it. It has an interesting obstacle to get over on 9th fairway- namely the coast road!

Corrie - another course in the “wrong village” – the 9 hole course is actually in Sannox.  It’s quite a short course but you will have to have a certain amount of control over your ball if you are to put together a decent looking card. On a clear day, this is easily one of the most beautiful golf courses in Scotland and well worth the short trip form the mainland.

Driving north from Corrie over the dramatic Boguille Road you’ll come to Lochranza parkland course. It makes the most of the natural features of the surrounding countryside, it’s renowned for its beauty. There can be quite a lot to distract you from the deer that roam the course to the enticing thought of the distillery just over the road!

The clubs have collaborated to offer the Arran Golf Pass which allows one round of golf at each course giving up to 20% discount.    For more Arran golf information please visit  Golf on Arran  or VisitArran
